Default CONVERTIBLE TOP ISSUES

Does anyone else out there have issues with tears on the convertible top due to the convertible mechanism rubbing every time top is taken up and down? I contacted Honda and they claim they are aware of this problem but refused to replace my top under warranty because they claim it is a wear and tear item. Can you believe it??? They expect me to spend $2,300 labor included to replace my top every couple of years as they say "IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". Anyone else experiance this issue? Any solutions?

You can post this in one place and get answers, no need to spam the boards.

I started to get wear on my top inside, so I added velcro tape to protect the top. Lots of people have various wear areas on their tops, but most are at the rear corners, not where mine are. Some people have gotten replacement tops, but most people are like you and are told its a wear item.

If you going to spend $2,300 to have it replaced, you might as well get a hardtop which is about the same cost.

and what do you do when you want to take the top off on the way home from work ?

I will never understand why people buy a convertible then buy a hardtop for it. I made that mistake 25 years ago and I ended up with the stupid top on the car for almost 2 years. Finally got rid of the dammed thing and put the soft top back on.

I guess you are allowed to make that mistake since I did it once.

Now back on thread subject, why do our tops rip, other cars never do. I wore out all the tops on my previous cars.
