Drove from Texas to South Dakota and back (in the wife's Passat) and only saw 2 S2000s over 7 days of travels. Both were silver. Rare birds. Saw lots of Z3s and Miatas.

 

Well I drove 5700 miles in two weeks all over the West and only saw two S2000's, one on the first day and one on the last. That was a year ago, so there may be a few more out there now.
Of course, I saw two just going the two miles to work this morning. There are lots of them locally.

 

A few weeks ago, I drove to Plano, TX to pick up some wheels, and I saw every color except white in the 2 hours I was there. I saw a total of 7 S2000's in the DFW area, I was really shocked!

I think the reason I saw so many is because I wasn't driving mine, I was in my beater car.
