Coming home with my 2002 Silver/Black! (Long)
Hi, all. I though I would share the experience!
It started on Friday lunch time when I came home to call the dealer in Daytona I was talking to. I was wondering if he could trade his Black/Black with a Silver one. He says, "not many dealers are willing to do it and even if they are willing, the car will have few miles on it since we don't flat bed these trades." He added, "we do have a silver on black coming in oh, about 6 weeks, though." I'm like, 6 FREAKING WEEKS!!
At this point I'm even thinking about getting the Black one...I just wanted to get it over with! But I had to stop myself and told the dealer that I'll get back to him when I make a decision.
I hang up the phone, start eating my sandwich and try to calm down....5 minutes later, phone rings...It's the dealer again...and he says, "Jong, we've got a dealer who wants to trade his SILVER ON BLACK with our black!" I almost choked on my sandwich! I asked the dealer how far the dealer was from Daytona Beach. He said it will be less than 100 miles. WHAT 100 freakin miles? I just had to negotiate the milage down to under 70 miles...and also had to make sure the guy who was driving it was not some rice boy. I also informed him about no VTEC for first 600 miles rule.
Fast foward to Saturday. Got up early in the moring, washed my black Prelude SH for the last time (I'll definitely miss my Long Horn emblem on the trunk...there just isn't room for that on the trunk of S2000) and took some pics
. Drove to CarMax, got appraised and sold it in 1 hour, got my rental car and I was on my way to Daytona.
Arrived at the dealership checked my car inside and out, asked them about the spring spacers, signed papers and I became an "owner" just like that . Oh, the odometer reading was at 69.1 (which is funny cuz I pulled that 70 miles out of my hat). Also, I talked to the guy who drove it...an old guy, about 50 yr old..couldn't imagine HIM going all out on the street .
Driving home was a total bit**...I mean, it's not like traffic around Daytona is good when nothing's going on...but I HAD to pick my brand spankin new S2000 when there were: Loud Boom Box competion, Wet T-Contest and Annual Surfing Competion !!!
So many stupid, half druken red neck teenagers yelling at me, "WTF you driving!" Rice boys reving, chirping their tires in their jealousy! I'm like, "God please, get me OUT of here!"
By the time I got home I was both physically and mentally exhusted....slept like a log
. To top it all, Friday was my birthday! So all you guys still waiting for yours...just hang tight and enjoy the moment!
P.S. I saw a red NSX with chrome rims on I-4 going west on my way to Daytona (I was on my Corolla rental car ) and saw it again coming home (around 4-5 pm). Anybody here?

Thanks!
I really liked Prelude. It's an awesome car on its own right. But I guess I've always wanted to get a "purer" sports car than Prelude...rear wheel drive, stiffer suspension, amazing engine etc. Of course, you just can't beat the feeling of having an open top roadster !

It's amazing how many times a dealer will say he can't do X, and then he calls you later to say that he can!
I think that it must be one of the many tactics that they use to make you feel like they did something special for you!
