Clutch Slipping! Ideas Please
So as of last weekend my clutch started slipping. I have 20k miles on the car and I removed the CDV about 15k miles. I originally thought that maybe the clutch fluid had gone bad or had moisture in it but after flushing it, its still slipping. The odd thing about the problem is it only happens once the car/tranny gets warmed up, if I just wait for the engine to get to normal temp and get on it I can chirp 1-2 shift. But once its warm itll slip all the way through 4th. Last night was probably the worst that its happened and I could smell the clutch inside the car with the windows up and a/c off after getting on the freeway. I took it to Honda today and they looked it over and said they couldnt duplicate it and that theres nothing wrong that they can see. He even said theres plenty of "meat" left on the clutch. What gives? Any ideas what else to look for? I felt around the clutch master cylinder and it feels dry.

Maybe it's your shifting technique. The stock clutch isn't a big baller clutch. If you're revving too early and gassing through the shift too early and not sidestepping the clutch, it won't hold.
Just a thought.

The CDV was added to allow the heavy flywheel the time it needs to decel.
Removing the CDV will give you better engagement feel, HOWEVER....nothing can change the time it takes for the flywheel to decel, aside from a lighter flywheel. A serious shift-time adjustment must be made by the driver to compensate if the CDV is removed.
Most people who remove the CDV get a slipping clutch afterwards, because they are not giving the engine time to decel.

I have a 2007 and have been having some clutch slipping as well, granted I still have the CDV. I have owned 6 manuals in my lifetime and this is the first time ever I have had a clutch slipping issue, so I doubted it was my technique. After doing a lot of reading it seems the heavier flywheel combined with a weak pressue plate are to blame in most cases (again this is not fact just what many people said).

The answer seems to be to get a stronger pressure plate and go to an AP1 flywheel. Hard Top Guy offers this exact package I have just not been ready to put down the dollars yet.

Hope this helps, this is at least where I am at and hope to get the Hard Top Guy setup in my car early next year.

Same thing happend to my 05. Took the CDV out and the clutch blew out on a track day at 15k miles. Changed to an OEM friction disc and ACT pressure plate and the clutch has been going strong for 135k with 0 issues and great feel.

Once again folks, its not the CDV, its the weak sauce pressure plate compared to the heavy AP2 flywheel. You need a stronger pp, like an ACT pp, or you'll never get great hookup and will eventually glaze your clutch friction disk with hard or too-fast shifts. You don't need to go with an AP1 flywheel, but it will quicken the rpm falloff if you do.
Very few people even know where the CDV myth began, but it basically cropped up when one guy noticed the slave cylinder is different on an 04 S than from his earlier build S, and that the CDV was evil somehow became gospel, but after people took a closer look at the drivetrain changes and had a better understanding of things, the pressure plate was identified as the real weak link in the new system.
Also, chirping tires on shifts = bad shifting technique.
