Default Clutch slipping after only 6,000 miles

I have noticed over the past few days that my clutch has been slipping pretty bad on hard redline 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Could this simply be the clutch delay on my AP2, or could it mean that my clutch is starting to give already? I have roasted my clutch twice because I had an AP1 for almost 3 years and I am not quite used to this stupid clutch delay yet, and I am afraid that the clutch wear is what may be causing it. I am having the clutch delay removed ASAP, but I'm just hoping that the damage has not already been done.

BTW, I had the original clutch on my AP1 when I got rid of it at almost 70,000 miles and it was showing no signs of slippage...

im pretty sure its just the clutch release valve. it makes the clutch slip on purpose to prevent shock on the drivetrain (diff, driveline, etc)

Sorry to resurect an old thread, but I have a similiar quesetion. My car has 7,000 miles on it now and does something similiar. It's been doing it for a while and I just thought it was normal b/c of the clutch delay, but a Honda dealer today told me it was b/c of clutch wear. The RPM's literally hang up there a bit before dropping down when shifting at redline from 1st to 2nd. He compared it to a brand new 06 which was not as bad as mine, but I'm not sure what to think now.

I don't have a ton of confidence in the mechanic at the dealer as at first he told me my clutch has a problem because it could not chirp 1st to 2nd (why he was trying to begin with was a completely different story that I chewed him out for). After I explained to him about the clutch delay valve in the ap2's he didn't believe me until he took the new 06 out. He couldn't chirp it either and quickly put his foot into his mouth and told me I was right. He still said he thought my clutch had a problem (worn) though because of the fact it hung up on the 1st to 2nd shift.

Does anyone have a video of redline shifts in an ap2 by chance?

Do the '06's have the clutch delay valve also? I thought they removed it after '05.

Ya he was the head mechanic there too, scary thought.

Anyways, my only concern is the fact that mine seemed to hang up longer than the new 06 we took out. Is there any other tests I can do to check for a "burned clutch" like he seems to think I have? I've had a few other owners drive my car at local meets. Most of them said it felt normal to them. One guy did mention my clutch felt softer than his, not sure if that is really a sign of anything though.

I've got a clutch that's showing signs of wear at only 16,000 miles. I will NOT take out the delay valve, because I'd rather not toy with Honda when it comes to my differential blowing. I feal that I'm jjustified in being paranoid.

How do you know it's not the delay valve unless you remove it to test? If you're worried about your warranty, buy the slave cylinder from an 00-03 and swap it out. If your clutch problems go away, you know it's the delay valve, and not premature clutch wear.
