Clutch questions.
Hey guys. I had some work done on my tranny by the dealer because of gear grinding problems that I was having, and got the car back last week. Well when I got it back, after a few hours of driving, I noticed that when the car is idling in neutral, a weird tapping sound, almost like the sound of a train (which taps at about the same speed the engine valves do at idle). When I push the clutch in all the way, the sound goes away. When I let it back out, it comes back. Is this something I can leave off until I take the car in for the next oil change, or do you recomend that I take it in as soon as possible? Also another question. My friend who has an M3 dropped his clutch at redline one time in hopes of being able to do a "gnarly" burnout. Little did his dumbass know, his Dynamic Stabilty Control was on, and ALL the abuse went to the cluth. Needless to say, the car started smoking heavily. I was wondering if anything besides the clutch would be getting damaged in this scenario. And last but not least? Whats a slipping clutch and how do I know if mine is doing it? Oh yeah, and how do I know when my clutch is worn out? Thanks in advance!

When your clutch slips during launches, you'll rev to redline quickly without really physically moving much. Plus your car will smell bad because you fried your clutch.
I'm not sure what slipping clutch after shifting feels like. But when your clutch is worn, you'll need to give the car more gas and keep your clutch in the sweet spot longer for it to catch.
As for the M3, I think DSC plays with your brakes and your driveline doesn't it?

Here is a quick test to see if your clutch is slipping. Select 1 to 2 gears higher than you would normally drive (for example... 2nd gear at 6000 RPM, select 4th). Now give it 100% throttle. If the car slowly ups the RPM's and appears to be moving at said gear all is ok. if the RPM's start to creep up and you are still going the same speed... then your clutch is slipping. Of course do this with the clutch fully out.
