Default clutch / drivetrain ?Q?

*note* this is my first manual trans car.

1) when i want to move i often find myself giving too little gas and the whole car starts to shake..does it do any damage to the car? i fear if i rev too high i would burn the clutch as i feather it out..

2) is it possible to tell how much clutch is left? without removing them to check? I heard a bad clutch would give up and the car wouldn't move an inch..

3) Whenever i hit vtec and upshift..i can't make a smooth transition from 1 gear to another (well...a slight clutch slip). How can i improve my shifting when i vtec?

thanks

1. I'm not really sure on that. If anything, it may eventually damage the motor mounts.

2. no, you can't tell the "level". When a clutch is going, it will slip. slipping is when the revs go up but the car doesn't speed up. It will start to do this under hard acceleration, then more often, then go out.

3. practice.
