I have search a bit on this topic and I am not sure if I should modify the stock one or buy the 03 slave cylinder. Do you have to modify the 03 slave in any way? Should you replace the hose as well since I believe it is shorter? Do you have to adjust the clutch pedal after doing either one? Is there a DIY floating around for installing the 03 and modifying the stock one. By doing this mod will this cause premature wear on the clutch it seems that some of the search posts I read clutch wear is an issue. Not sure if this is due to the mod or driver related.

If you are fairly handy just do the removal mod, it's not that hard. As for clutch wear, this mod will save your clutch if you are a normal driver, the delay valve wears the clutch worse.

So the delay is what actually causes the wear but in turn helps to reduce drivetrain stresses. I thought there was a DIY for the stock slave floating around but I could not find it. Anyone?

You know that "lagging" feeling you get when you are at WOT and do a 1-2 shift? It almost feels like your revs float a bit before 2nd gear engages and you continue to accelerate? Well, that's caused by your clutch delay valve, and that is actually your clutch slipping. Slipping clutch=more stress on your clutch=wears out faster.

Now, without the delay valve in, I suppose during hard driving it is conceiveable that you are causing more stress on your differential, but many people have removed the delay valve on the AP2 and have had no problems at all.

The '03 one doesn't fit. Well, maybe with massive modification. Figure on modding the stock one.

I will give it a try we shall see how it works on the 06 models. Why not use snap ring pliers instead of the dental pick. Would have been much easier.

Yes it does. I had one on my 04. If you get the 03 slave though, I would go ahead and spring for the extra $15 for the hose as the AP2 hose is a little longer.

From all the threads I've read, I've seen more burned out clutches on modified AP2 slaves than on just AP1 swaps. Not a ton or anything but it might still happen. I modified my current slave as soon as I got the car. Still got bad slipping around 15k miles. Switched to an ACT pressure plate after that. If I had to do it over again, I'd just get the 03 slave and line to be sure.
