Wow, I can't believe that your S02 rear tires lasted 27K miles.

My rear tires, you'll find plenty of people saying the same, wear out around 10-15k. The fronts have lasted twice that. i have 55k on my car. Three sets of rear tires and I'm 1/2 was through the fronts. Would be more but I put snow tires on which seem to last an eternity compaired to SO2's.
This is typical.
As for your clutch, there is no way anyone here would know why you ate through it so quickly.
Might be because it had a defect but it might just be that your tougher than average or a combination of both.
Either way I went through my clutch at 47K and I ate it because it is a wear item and nothing indicated that it was the part itself.
We have a weak clutch, its designed that way to save the diff.
It is what it is.

All's well that ends well...............
Disaster is averted;apparently after further inspection they have determined that the clutch disc was not engaging perpendicular to the flywheel.
There was three burn marks on both flywheel and pressure plate. The master tech further explained that all costs will be covered under warranty.
I feel vindicated ;I was prepared to pay up and fight with American Honda but as it turns out there is no need.
To everyone who offered advice and support ;you are appreciated.

Fronts were replaced @24K, which was right before winter, and when the tech did the comparo front-rear he generalized that I had caused the premature wear of the clutch.
But I'm glad everything worked out OK for you. I guess your persistence worked in this case.
