Default Clunk!

Everyone...that has the Grind...from 1-2.

Did it start with a CLUNK from 1-2 first, then progress to the GRIND?

Just wondering because every once in while when I shift from 1-2 there is a loud CLUNK from the middle of the car.... After that happens it hard to shift back into first.

My car is a 2001 model, and thought it wouldn't have the problem of 2000 models.

Also, this might of been a driver error (user error) One day shifting from first to second almost at red line. Clutch full pressed, GOD AWFUL Noise!!! GRIND!!! That's happened twice.

Just wondering what that might be, Driver Error, or the start of something BIGGER

I have a MY2000 and have had the clunk. So far, I have no grind, so I don't think they are related.

I find that it's much easier to shif into 2nd gear at redline, or at higher RPMs. Woodwork did say that trying to force the gears will not allow the synchros to work and you will get the grind. He recommends easing it into 2nd. I can't remember the thread that was about the 2nd gear grind, but you might be able to find it using a search.
