How many tries does it take for you to close the hood? The dealer and the owners manual states that the hood should be raised to chest level then let go to close the hood. This keeps the hood from getting dented by having a hand pushed on it.

It takes me 2 tries. The first time I guess I am gentle with it the second I flick it down a little harder.

I feel bad/embarassed every time I hear it go slam and it does not close. Matter of fact I did it today at the gas station and I thought the guy next to me was gonna come over and kick my a$$ for abusing such a fine vehicle.

Mine used to do the same thing, but now latches every time when dropped from 12 inches. If it hadn't broken in, I'd have adjusted it, though.

justification,

this has been discussed a couple of times; if you do a search for "hood" in the subject only, you'll find the threads.

Here's the most recent one:

http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=12414

This was my answer:

It's pretty easy to adjust the latch position so that the hood will close easily.

Here's the page from the Helm manual:

You probably need to do adjustment 2 - 3, adjust the hood latch

No problems with mine. Just drop it 12-18 inches above and it latches

I drop mine from chest level and closes fine. However, my friends think I am crazy as it makes a loud noise and they think I dont know what I am doing....

People look at you like you are abusing the car, but I drop it anywhere from 18-24" and let it slam. It's so light you need the velocity to close the latch.
