Default The closest thing to a race car (Long)

Is that the S2000?

When I first got my 98 Prelude, I was very suprised in how well it handled, how hgh the engine revved, etc. It felt like a go-cart to me at the time. I had only been in American Muscle Cars before that. Naturally I fell in love and bought the car. After seeing S2000's and NSX's tear up the track and my car just hanging with GSR's and whatnot, it wasn't so much of a race car anymore. It felt more like a wannabe mixed with some comfort. So my question for you all is... Has the feeling of being strapped into a race car while driving worn off? I want that feeling again, I really do, just don't want it to wear off after 6 months or so.

I have had mine for a year and seven months and it has not worn off yet. Each day I am not driving it (I don't often take it to work) I am thinking about driving it.

I went for a nice drive once the sun went down ( my Favourite time ) and came back smiling like I just picked it up off the showroom floor. 1 year later and I still feel like driving this car should be illegal

Its hard to feel like you are driving a race car on public streets without risking serious traffic violations.

...but I think for the price it is about as good as it gets for now.

I love it just as much as when I bought it and have not started to think about "what if". Sure I'd take a new 996 if it were offered in a straight swap but that hasn't happened yet.

It hasn't worn off. In fact, I like the car even more now, since the VTEC surge has gottne much stronger.

One helpful bit to get the racecar feeling (if you've lost it).. Try driving something like a Lumina, Intrigue, Malibu, Impala or any of the myriad cars you'll get from a rental company (I drive a rental during the week, working in another city). It sure does give you the "Hot damn it's good to be back in the s2k" feeling each and every time you drive.

Everytime I drive my S2000, I fell like !!!. After 20 mos of ownership and 18k miles, I still feel great driving this car! It can be a race car when you want it to be, and yet it can be a comfortable car doing "normal" driving too...

You should test drive it a few times and then decide...I know buying my S2000 was the best auto purchase I have ever made...and I paid way over MSRP back in October 99.

Actually, I recently saw a great condition, right-optioned '99 996 at a great price... sorta got me thinking! No, I'll stay with the S2K for a (long?) while.
