Default Clicking Noise. Weird.

Can anyone help me with this. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the rear end. It's not suspension related, well I don't think. It seems to happen when either up or downshifting or even just taking off in first. It literally sounds like a clicking noise. What can it be. Should I be worried.

Details? Single click, or rythmic. If rythmic does it vary with car speed, engine speed or not at all. Could be anything from a CV joint to a cooling exaust. How loud, how often?

It sems to happen at very slow speeds, like just taking off. It's almost sounds like someone clicking a switch or something. It happens all the time but it's not continous, just a single or couple clicks. It's not even consistent. It seems to be related to the clutch or something. It's really weird and noticeable.

Sounds like a relay or something from your description. You might have to wait for it to get worse to get a diagnosis. Mechanics hate intermitent problems. Just guessing:
Exaust ticking
CV joint (are the CV boots solid?)
Something in the rear or connected to the rear end
Brake light switch
Fuel pump relay?

Good luck...

If this is occuring when you are "just taking off" as you say and you happen to be turning at the time, (like out of a driveway or from a stop sign at an intersection for instance), it's just the LSD rear end and is completely normal.
