Cleared out Headlights this weekend

pnty drpr (Rob) and I decided to clear our factory headlights this weekend. This was definetly a time consuming project. It took about 7hrs. to do both cars.
We were at Rob's fathers garage which has 2 car lifts. This helped out with removing the front bumpers. After the headlight assemblies were removed from the cars, we used heat guns to seperate the lens from the housing (this is the part that requires patience). The amber lenses came out very easily after that. We then re-heated both parts (lens and housing) and put them back together. We then used silicone around the seam to make sure no water will get in.
I changed the parking light bulbs from clear to amber, Rob decided to leave the parking light bulbs dis-connected.
The end result is awesome! The cleared out lights give a much cleaner appearence. Rob has a white S2000, and the contrast between the white paint and clear lights is superb.
The only thing I don't like is now the blinker blinks clear. I could not find a suitable replacement bulb in amber. If anyone has a solution for this, please let me know.
Neither of us have a digital camera, so no pictures yet.
If anyone has any specific questions, fire away-

I had my first great test last night.
It was pouring for hours.
I was kind of worried. We sealed them very well, but you never know.
Well, so far so good.
It rained for much of the night, and it all seems fine.

Rob,
I think they would have sealed w/out the silicone, but better safe then sorry.
Have you got any comments yet, good/bad?
I think the silver housing looks great with the shiny lips on our wheels. I'm glad we didn't have a clear diffuser to put in.

How difficult is it to remove the bumper and go through the whole process without a lift? I mean, I'm sure it's possible...but I'm wondering, is there a lot of work to do under the car to get the bumper on/off?
Also...what's bad about the parking lights being clear? Is it simply a safety thing that you're changing the bulbs for? Aesthetic?

Can you remove the black gunk and replace it entirely with another silicone sealant, or did you find you had to reheat that crap and reuse it? Also, any suggestions on room conditions when resealing the lamps, such as dry, warm, etc.?

rahvis,
You really don't need to jack up the car at all to take the front bumper off.
I took mine off yesterday "non-jacked" to replace the factory horn, and my car is dropped with the front spoiler.
