Chromed AEM Intake (Pics and Impressions)
Heya guys, with all the pics of the lovely AEM CAI in people's cars...i decided to be a little different and get mine chromed!
As you can see, the CUSCO Strut Bar has enought clearance for the Intake...There is about 3mm clearance between the two...Just to prevent any potential rubbing I shoved some spongy stuff in between...hehehe....
Impression:
Install: Not too hard for me and my mechanic...took 90 minutes for install...
Under 3500RPM: same as stock...but maybe even quieter!
3500-4500RPM: can feel torque increase very much! Overtaking is improved as well as response
VTEC Transission: More obvious~ now when hi-cam kicks in tone switches to much higher pitched sound...id say sounds quite pissed off!
Overall, a great product by AEM! Id do it all over again if i had the chance!

I sent it to a Chome Plater...
There were issues though...The AEM intake is made from Aluminium and is not the best metal to subject to chrome plating... I was warned the end result might be a very "blistered" looking intake... Job came out great however and I was pleased...
Yes I am going to chrome the centre part of the valve cover (the black part with "VTEC" engraved on it)..The red portion I will probably colour blue to match the blue of my Cusco Strut Bar...Unless any ideas here? Im still not decided on the colour...I know many of you guys feel strongly about the Racing Red that Honda has blessed our blocks with!
And the Cusco Strut Bar will be chromed as well...currently it was polished from the factory...
After that its braided lines wherever possible!
Thats about enough shiny bits for the engine bay~ Ill take more pics when job is done!
