So in reality, you're saying that you'd downshifted from 6th to 3rd at 65mph without double clutching so it stresses out the tranny. That's no fun, looks more like a person that don't know how to drive a stick or a rookie.
Double clutching-rather than going straight to the next gear, makes a stop in neutral and then the clutch is released. This is to allow the engine to slow down (or with a tap on the gas, speed up when downshifting) so the transition into the next gear is much more smooth. The driver then depresses the clutch again and completes the shift into the target gear, and finally the clutch is released again, putting the car back into gear. It only takes a split second for the engine speed to match the speed of the gears, so the entire action is done very quickly as a fluid sequence of events.

what you did was cause the rear wheels to lock or spin slower than the car is going. the reason it did that is bc your wheels need to spin the same speed as the flywheel/tranny. when u dropped the clutch into the third your rpms were lower than it should be travelling at the speed you were. so, the wheels/tranny slowed down to match the engine rpm. the engine/flywheel also acclerated to match the the tranny/wheel speed.
so, that initial chirp is created by your tires not spinning fast enough

Not to be an ass but... Man O' Man... you guys are some party pooper... the reason I bought the car is so I could have a little bit of fun on my drive home from work. Juuussst a little fun after a hard day's work... If I can't even do that then I should've gotten a responsible car like a Camry or something. Save years off my back when I get old. The ride is not exactly back friendly.
Here I was feeling good and happy to share my experience but, hey, I wanted to chirp @ 60 and I got to chirp @ 60... mission accomplished... whatever.
Thanks for the leason, though.
