Took my '01 to the dealer for TSB 54, and noticed a white/tan S2000 in the dealer showroom. I have to say, hearing Honda putting a tan interior in the S2000 put me off, but seeing it in person I was pleasantly surprised! The black/tan combo looked really nice, and gave the interior a more "upscale" look.

I few things I noticed right away: The interior carpet was definately upgraded. I'm not sure what model year this happened, but the carpet is definately more plush near the footwells.

The leather seats seem to have more texture. The red seats on my s2000 appear smooth, while the tan seats seemed to have more of a rough leather texture, even on the back side.

Of course this is pure speculation. I have no hard data to back this up.

As much as I like the tan interior, I wish AHM kept the red interior as an option for GPW.

I too wish they would have kept red as an option for those that were interested but would have preferred it if it was the black/red combo like the black/tan that is available now. I also feel that a plain black interior would have gone over well in the states. I know that would have been my first choice if it were available. I'm really enjoying the tan leather and the only downfall I have noticed with it so far is that it takes a little extra caution to keep it from getting dirty.

 

I would like to see tan as an option in red and black S2k's as well. I would have loved to buy a Red S2K with a tan top and tan interior. That's as classic as you can get.
