Check Engine Light On
After installing the new ACT clutch late last night My check engine light came on. I probably have a plug loose or something. Is ther any easy way to check for codes on this car without having to give it away to the dealer for the day. ?????

There should be a test pin plug on your passenger's side near the ECU, the number of times the malfunction light blinks on the ECU determines a code for the error. Hope this one helps, the malfunction light should be treated with the highest priority to be resolved ASAP.

Clutch install, eh? Well, first off, make sure there is plenty of fluid in the transmission. Secondly, make sure that all sensors are connected correctly and completely. If all of that checks out okay, use a paper clip as a jumper on the diagnosis terminal of the computer. Turn the ignition key and count the number of long blinks and the number of short blinks. That's your error code.
Example: longblink, longblink, longblink, longblink, shortblink, shortblink = 42.
A Helm shop manual will tell you what the problem is and how to troubleshoot it.

If it's just a case of wanting to reset it, you can unplug the battery for 3 minutes and it should go off.
I did that once, but I knew that there really was no problem - it was when I changed my oil and filter, I unplugged a sensor that I shouldn't have, so the dealer just told me to reset it.
But if there really is a problem I don't know if you'd want to reset it yourself without the dealer checking it out.

You're right Utah, I think the service person that I talked to just told me to disconnect the battery because he thought it would be too hard to explain that other procedure over the phone.
How long has that procedure been up on the faq anyway? My problem with the check engine light was about 3 weeks ago, and I looked for a procedure to reset including - I think - on the faq and I could'nt find it. I even posted the question on this board.
A question I have about the procedure in the FAQ, will that also reset the radio code?
