Default Changing shift knob

I just got my voodoo shift knob and I'm trying to remove the factory knob. The factory knob seems kind of tight. Do I just turn it counter clock wise? Will it come off that way? Do I need to turn the lock nut on it before trying to remove it? Thanks.

Just unscrew it, and screw on the new one. Easy as that.

get a wrench to hold the lock nut in place as you turn it.

Get a wrench to turn the lock nut the OPPOSITE WAY you're turning the shift knob.

Thanks guys. I didn't want to apply too much pressure and break something.

it also helps if you use a blowdryer to warm up the locking nut to loosen it.
