Default Changed my top to glass window myself!

I am so pleased with myself. Me and a buddy changed my top last night in about 4.5 hours. I changed to the glass window and was able to swap tops and frames which made easy(er). All I expected was to be able to see better out the back but I got so much more. It fits so tight that my original top rattle has disappeared and amazingly the loud wind noise I used to have has completely gone! Even over a hundred the wind noise is gone and the car feels "tighter".

Overall, it was a pain to do, my back hurts, but so very worth it!

What do you think was the hardest part of the job?

i plan to do it, too. the instructions make it look easy. I would imagine drilling out all those rivets can be a pain.

So you didn't just swap the vinyl top, but you also swapped the frame? Please tell us more.

OK,

Boy wonder - I would do it for you any weekend for a small fee

S2k dude - I have to say it was reaching behind the back wall to get all the hardware off

Steven - what rivets? are you talking about changing just the fabric? I got an 04 top off a wrecked s2k with the frame already attached.

blue - basically you will remove the roll bars, the trim panels in the back (where the top retracted rests) then there are 11 nuts around the edge of the top, I swapped the motors and mounted them on the same tooth as the original top and put it all back together.

850 - I got the top with the frame in practically brand new condish for 600 pounds (roughly $1140) probably could have got it cheaper from the states but he delivered and i received next day!

White - I did get the top already mounted on the frame so that made it a fairly simple process, just time consuming.
