I was the originator of this thread (I'll take the blame), but wanted to emphasize these are virile felines we're talking about. I enjoy cats as much as the next girly man, but these wild cats must be dealt with. They prance around spraying noxious fumes over anything that gives them gratification. They attack house cats out for the occasional stroll. I'll give these wild cats one "at a boy", they eat the pesky geckos. (now we'll hear from the gecko lovers)....I went to PETCO this weekend and bout some stuff. I sprayed the part of the cover they seem to gravitate to (the part that covers the softtop) and didn't notice any footprints Sunday or Monday morning. So hopefully this "pet-away" stuff works. Thanks for all the suggestions, the pellet gun was next.

If you're really serious about ridding yourself of the cat problem, why not use cat-traps (humane ones) to trap the kitties, get them "fixed", then return them back into the "wild". Most of their spraying behavior is reproduction-oriented. Fix the cats, and not only do you reduce the future cat population w/o having to kill any, but you fix your immediate problem (cat sparying).

My neighbor used to keep plastic cups on his lawn filled with ammonia to discourage dogs. I don't know if it's safe for the car finish or cover, but the ammonia gas emanating from the containers would be noxious to the cats. You probably only have to do this a few times and the cats will learn to stay away or get gas masks.

www.scatmat.com. I have one of these and it will train the cat to stay off anything. It doesn't hurt them either. Mine is mainly to keep the dog and cat off the couch.

Here is what you do:
Cats seem to hate the smell of mothballs. So if you put some moth balls on the top of your car or around it the cats wouldn't dare come near it.
I had a cat that claimed our boat as its home, well i was told that cats hate the smell of moth balls, so i took a bucket filled with moth balls and stuck it in the boat and closed the top, within two nights the cat had vacated the boat.

Animal control won't do a thing about cats. Dogs they will, but not cats. Somehow they aren't seen as the same thing.
