Default Cash in extended warranty?

I think I have voided my Honda warranty (track days, roll cage, supercharger etc) at least on the drive train (expensive stuff).

I bought a 6-60 Honda extended warranty when I purchased the car in Dec 02, I thought I read I can get a refund on that?

Anyone know the process?

Thanks,

George

Yes go to where you bought it. The finance department will give you a form to sign and you will get most of the money back.

Note that in my experience the warranty is prorated from 0 miles/0 days, not from the end of the standard 3/36 warranty and there is usually a fee added on top of that to add insult to injury...

i just recently cancelled the extended warranty on the rsx-s that i traded my s2k for. all i had to do was fill out a cancellation form at the acura dealership - and i got a prorated amount back - @ $400. definitely worth an hour's worth of hassle!

oh - and there was a $50 cancellation fee.

It depends on how long you've had it. It'll be prorated. You might as well get some money back if you feel that you voided the warranty. Of course, the warranty can't be voided unless they prove that the mods caused the damage.

I had an extended warranty on my 01' S2K. I decided to cash in because I was trading in my 01' for an 03'. Luckily for me, I cashed in during the first 60 days and was able to get a full refund (minus tax).

"Prove" is a strong word. If they decided that your mod voided the warranty then thats that. That's the only proof they need, because you only alternative will be to take them to court and that will likely cost more than the warranty claim itself.

Please read this excellent post from Legal Bill: Mods, maintenance and your warranty
