Well, this may be your problem right here.
Test the battery with a voltage tester. If a "good" battery gets drained, it will come back to some degree just sitting there for some hours. This would point towards the alternator. If you do get it started, take the voltage again. If the alternator is good, you should be reading around 14V even if the battery is bad.

After reading this thread, I tend to agree with those who say it's the alternator. One of my biggest complaints with Honda is that they do not put anything on the car to let you know what the charging system is doing. Engine temps, yes! Oil pressure, yes! Charging system, no!! Shame on you Honda!
Actually I had to replace my battery this past weekend as well. My 6-years old OEM battery died and I could not get the car started, so I jump started it and drove around for a while with no accessories turned on (maybe 15 minutes), hoping it would charge up the battery. Then I drove to my Honda dealer and bought a replacement battery ($100 for 500CCA, 2 years replacement, 100 months pro-rated). When they tried to restart the car to install the new battery, it would not start. So I asked the service advisor could it be a failed charging system and he told me that if the charging system had failed, then the little battery indicator light on the dash would come on. So it looks like Honda did put in an idiot light to tell you when it is not working.

Yes, there is a battery light in the gauge cluster but it doesn't always work. I had a lose wire on my alternator that caused battery drain/no charge and that light never came on.

NOOOOOOOOOOO DONT EVER DO THIS - dont listen to this bum advice.

If you pull the neg cable while the car is running you will KILL the ECU
Will it really? I've done this troubleshoot on all my other cars, but never on an S2K. Seriously, it was not my intention to mislead anyone, its just a quick way to troubleshoot an alterator issue...

Your battery is probably under warranty also if it is bad and you just bought it only about a year ago.

No it wont. I've done it a few times already. Started the car with a good battery removed it while running and put the old battery back in. Compression starting won't hurt it either.
