Default Car Won't Start...

So it's around 1 oclock at night and i just got back from getting a late night snack at wendeys. My garage door is busted; so i have to turn off my car, unlock the front door to my house, physically open up my garage, then restart my car and drive it in.

So I haven't noticed any problems lately with it, and when i started it to go get food i didn't notice anything either. Well after i opened up my garage i jumped in my car to start it up and all i got was a clickclickclickclick...I'm assuming it's my battery, but i don't know how that would be. I replaced that with an optima around a year ago and i dont have a sound system or anything...So I don't know how my battery would die so soon.

My roommate isn't here so i cant try to jump my car. Any suggestions on what it might be? maybe my starter? I appreciate any suggestions/opinions.

Given that you just got back from a run in the car, I don't think it would be the battery, as if it were low it should have charged whilst the car was running.

Maybe your starter motor is the problem?

Oh and i also forgot to mention that my headlights started flickering on and off too....that would be a sign of a dying battery right?

Well i gave the car a rest for about 45- to an hour and just tried to start it again.

same clickclickclickclick sound and no response. i tried turning on the headlights again and they were flickering extremely fast and would not stay on.

So i clicked the lock button on the keyless entry twice and the honk that goes off was extrmely low, I could barely hear it.

I'm not gonna touch it again until i can try to jump it but im assuming its either the starter, alternator, or hopefully just the battery....This is the first probelm iv'e had with this car in 2 1/2 years of ownership. Good thing i have an extended warranty if its anything serious.

Anyone else have any opinions on what it might be?

I say your alterator is toast, and your car has been running off the battery till it drained, hence no cranking power...

Once you do get it jumped and started, pull the Negative Terminal from the battery and see if the car keeps running. If is stalls, then your alterator is toast...

you know you don't have to have a battery to start a manual right?
