Give yourself a tip for washing your own car.
But if you are strapped for time, then it may be a good idea.

I would find a place you can trust, and let them know your business will stay. They will treat you well.

I do whenever I go. The way I see it, it's a service that I'm receiving. I'll even tip a couple more bucks if they do a really good job.

The carwash I go to costs about $12.00. I give the dude $3.00 more. When I buy a better car, I'm planning to wash it myself.

I would NEVER tip at a car wash. Simply because I don't trust anyone else washing my car.

If the guys do a good job, flip 'em 3-5. But, If you catch a glimpse of George Carlin .........be very afraid.

Try and strike up a conversation with them if possible. Connect with the folks because NEXT time they see you coming out of the line and ready for wrap-up, they'll treat you right (in most cases).
Think of it as knowing your bartender.
I've seen the same guys who will turn over a car in 30 seconds, spend 2 minutes on a regular, nice-tipping customer's car.
As for my own experience with the S2K, nobody washes the car but me.
