The S2K has made the 10 best list several times in the 10 years, and has received high praise in many many articles. I even remember Mario Andretti writing a comparison article on the track in which he did his best times in an S2K. What the hell does John Roesel know - he's probably one of those retards who likes a 6-Litre 8-banger that puts out 390hp and spins its wheels for the first 4 seconds of its "zero to sixty"! All I care about is - the S2K turns my crank, and speaks to my soul!

Fact is, the S2000 is dead. Honda abandoned it and all those who love this type of car.

The 'send off' you are referring to was just one guy's opinion. I was reading the Car and Driver article last night (written in 1999) that talked about the "initial test drive" of the s2k....Car and driver loved it then and many years afterwards.

I have to wonder if the writer has even driven a S2000. Seriously. I just don't know how the car could be a let down. To me, sports cars are about the driving experience. If the S2000 falls short in that regard, I guess I am clueless about what the driving experience is.

I should hope the Cayman and BoxsterS are faster because the sure cost a lot more money. I think dollar for dollar the S2000 is a great car and I am glad I finally have one.

I just pulled out my recent issue and read the entire small article. I gotta say that I agree with most of what the guy had to say. He is spot on about the death of sports cars at Honda, their vehicle line up is so damn boring right now I can't think of one new Honda that I'd want to own. Honda's vehicle lineup today is so boring it would inspire narcolepsy at an insomniac convention. Honda design has gone down the tubes as well. Honda has killed so many good cars that it is chasing away long time customers. His comment about the Ap1 engine vs. the Ap2 engine is hard to justify. I don't think the Ap2 engine was drastic enough in terms of a performance improvement, but I certainly don't agree with his statement that the Ap2 engine was a bad decision as compared to keeping the Ap1 engine.

I agree with the statement that some cosmetic changes and powertrain upgrades might have helped to keep the vehicle alive. It's impossible to ever know what could have been achieved, but it would have been worth a try IMO. Honda should keep a flagship sports car even if it isn't entirely profitable, you need something to show off your capabilities and attract people to your brand.

Wow, I really didn't expect the 135i to totally blow like that. That's totally off my list now.
