Default Car Covers, does brand matter?

Just curious if different car covers will matter? My s2000 will be stored in the winters, but for the remainder of the year it will be kept in a driveway, so I am looking for a car cover for when it rains.

Does brand matter? When looking around I see multiple car covers ranging from $30-$200 (oem). Anyone have any brands they recommend?

I bought a Covercraft Noah from Autoanything.com a few years ago and paid about $175. I don't use it much anymore since I have a garage now, but it served me very well. It's custom made for the S2k so the fit is very good (includes side mirror and antenna pockets, has elastic along the bottom edge at the front and back). It's not a waterproof type, but I think that's a good thing for an outdoor cover (don't want water getting trapped underneath). The material is very lightweight so it's easy to store and it dries very quickly. I think the biggest difference between a very low-cost cover and the more expensive ones is the fit -- I couldn't find anything custom-made for the s2k that was less than $150 IIRC. HTH

yes, brand does matter...I personally like to do it right the first time so why not spend a little more for a quality cover that works and will last. don't waste your money on a cheap generic one that they sell at walmart because it won't get the job done and the fit is probably very poor. imho you really can't go wrong with a cover from covercraft...I got the weathershield hp and love it...hope that helps

I bought a $200 cover made from Noah and it's lasted me 3 years and counting. Before that I bought a $50 cover from Autozone that lasted about 2 months before it got brittle and fell apart. You get what you pay for.

I went to autoanything.com and found this one on sale for $105. http://www.autoanything.com/car-covers/60A1516A0A0.aspx

Opinions?

Damn, that looks pretty good to me. I've never heard of that specific brand, but it seems to get very good reviews and at $105 the price is right, IMO. If I was looking for a cover I'd go for it.

Ebay stuff right here. It IS waterproof. I bought it before the winter hit here in the east coast so I know it is waterproof, snowproof, sunproof, windproof... plus its dirt cheap ($19.99 + $15 shipping?)

You get what you pay for? Bleh. Mine works just fine.

Sure. As does material, etc.

A tarp "works just fine" as well. You do get what you pay for but if you're happy with what you paid for then that's what matters in the end.
