I have the WeatherShield HP. It is one of the more expensive covers you can buy, but it's worth it, IMO.

I used to park under a eucalyptus tree that leaked its oily sap all over the car, which stains the clear coat. I tried several lesser covers and found that they simply leaked the oil right through onto the paint. They also became water-logged almost immediately whenever it rained.

The Weathershield HP kept the oil out entirely and only gets soaked after a sustained heavy rain. It dries very quickly as soon as it stops raining.

It's very thin, so it doesn't provide impact protection for hail or doors, but the upside is you can roll it up pretty tightly and carry it in the trunk without it taking up too much space. Also I can wash it effectively in my own washer and dryer. I've had it for a year and it isn't showing any signs of wear yet.

Edit: A California Car duster is a MUST if you are going to use a cover on a regular basis. Don't put on the cover without dusting first, and don't put it on at all if the car has gotten significantly dirty.

By the way the covercraft "Evolution" does resist hail. It said so on the website and the card I received with the cover. Havent tested it and hopefully never will

I'd say +1 for Weathershield.

+2 for Weathershield HP

I have seen water under the cover after a significant rain, but a clean
microfiber and some QD clean it up just fine! The water just beads up
and rolls off this cover like it has been waxed. I don't think you will
find any kind of a breathable cover that won't let some water through
because it has to breathe.

Cover is very light, folds up quite small so you can carry it along with
you on trips and has never blown off the car even without tying it down.

Also has perfectly located pockets for the mirrors and antenna.

I don't have a garage so this cover is on the car whenever I'm not
driving it and it keeps it very clean!

ALWAYS wash the car or do a QD and/or dusting before putting any
cover on the car otherwise it will do more harm than good!

Yes it's a little more pricey than other covers, but a new paint job because
the car has been scratched to hell by the cover costs even more. If you
like having your car look good, don't go cheap on a cover.

^^^^ My "Evolution" cover does the exact same thing. I take a california duster to it if any water seeped through.

+/-1 for the Weathershield HP.

I've used it for 1.5 years and have a love/hate relationship with mine. Fit is perfect, and the cover is actually great at what its supposed to do. It has good water resistance, very light and thin (think umbrella material) and keeps the car clean a lot longer than without it. Barely takes up any space in the trunk.

On the other hand, it also has left its mark on the finish of my clear coat. Apparently, the threaded seam that rests across the front fender has left a hazy area in the clear coat from the thousands of hours of abrasion from the threads due to the cover slightly shifting in breezes.

Which leads me to my next gripe: wind. The cover is designed to extend past the side skirts and cover most of your wheels, but in doing so catches any and all wind which will get up under your cover to help pull it off. Tying the sides down doesn't do much because the font will come off. The fact that the elastic has weakened over the years doesn't help either.

Thanks for the information, overdrive.

I will be sure to keep a good wax there, I did notice that once but it seemed
to go away with some QD and a microfiber.

Should I maybe lay a towel on the fenders where that seam is when I use the cover?

A towel would probably help if you could get it to stay on without sliding off.

For me this is too much trouble to do every time. I was thinking more along the lines of covering the seam area with a patch of some sort but I am not the expert in sewing.

I'm on my third California Car Cover and I couldn't be happier with their products.
