Default Car Cover 2007 S2000

I live way the hell out in the sticks in central Texas. My S2000 is driven daily and always kept in my carport, one side open to drive in. It gets dusty because we have dust out in the country. I need a car cover. The only protection that I need is to keep the dust off. Any ideas? This car is very important to me so that, while I am not rich, I will spend what is necessary. Any experience with car covers?

If you're only looking to protect from dust, the OEM S2000 car cover can't be beat for fitment. $213.00 on Amazon.

Although I have a garage, it is often open and I too am concerned about dust. I have an inexpensive cover I purchased at Costco. Fits well. I have used these covers for years especially on my DD airport car. They last about 3 years before disintegrating. I would have to tie them down under the car from mid grommet hole to mid grommet hole to keep it from blowing off. The car could spend up to 2 weeks parked at the airport. Costco occasionally has the $40 car cover (small works for the S2000) and they have a custom fit one for $150.

One important factor is the dust on the car BEFORE you place the cover on. My airport car, a 94 T-Bird, was not something I was concerned about paint wise. The S2000 is. If you put a cover on the S when it is dusty, you most likely will scratch the paint as "spider swirls". In addition, the cover itself will capture some dust and that will also cause very fine scratches in the paint. If that is not too much of a concern for you, go for it. I usually wash my car before covering and never cover if it is actually dirty. Sometimes it is just a little dusty so I use the California Duster to remove the dust before covering.

I too have an 2007 s2000 and has been a daily driver for over 12 years and I have been through multiple car covers.

I live in Arizona and before my company had covered parking I would cover my car at work to protect the soft top and paint. When I first got the car, I was stupid and uninformed and first tried using the OEM cover which gets destroyed very quickly from the sunlight. It lasted maybe 12 months from the sun. I then started using the Cover King UV protected covers. The first one was somewhat thin but lasted just under 2 years. Then I went to thicker cover king and it lasts considerably longer. They are more expensive depending on how thick and what layers of protection you want. The other nice benefits is when you get in the car that the steering wheel and stick shift isnt blistering hot

I cannot remember what I paid for the last Cover King but it was over $250.00. You get what you pay for so if it means you have to stretch a bit now it will be worth it longer term.

UV rays especially in AZ eventually destroys most materials outside but some will last much better than others. Just keep that in mind when making your purchase. Good Luck

I can't see how a cover will work for a daily driver in this environment. Unless you're going to wash (and dry) the car before covering it the cover will rub the surface dirt into the paint. And the inside of the cover will pick up that dirt and put it back on the car (and rub it in) the next time you cover it. Seems best to just wash as needed. For extended storage it makes sense but not daily.

What Chuck said. Extended storage, yes. Daily storage you might do more harm than good.

Concur. Cover for storage only. This is why I don't take my car out on those super nice days during winter storage. I won't be able to wash it before going back into storage, so can't put cover back on.

Get one of those silver windshield sun ray reflectors to keep the intense South West sun out of the interior (or just park in the shade, which it sounds like you got that 'covered' with the use of car tent.)
