Wait, are you saying that you didn't know transmissions required transmission fluid?

Being that I don't own an S2000 (in the market for one), I will admit I don't know everything about them, however a transmission is still a moving mechanical device which will require some sort of lubrication. Are you trying to tell me your tranny's are sealed units and do not require a fluid change?

There's two drivetrain fluids that you should change semi regularly. First is the transmission fluid, get some GM Synchromesh (search) and then rear diff.

And no, you dont want to put brake fluid in your transmission.

I always thought the whole purpose of the K&N filters was that you service them.
You don't throw them away.
IOW, clean it, dry it and put new K&N oil on.
"Recharge" is what they call it.

If the maintenance has been kept up, there is no service at 70K miles. The next one is 75K miles. However, if you don't know what has been done during the life of this car, it is always wise to do it all when you buy a used vehicle like this.
Change most of the fluids - engine oil, tranny fluid, rear diff fluid, brake and clutch fluid.
Check the engine coolant for freeze point and boiling point and level. Check the belt and all rubber boots under the car. Grease all the rubber boots under the car and treat all the rubber seals around the windows, engine bay and trunck and doors.
Obtain an owner's manual so you read up about the car and see what else they might want you to know about the care and feeding of it.
Go to the Under the Hood section of this site and look at the top and read the FAQs to see how to do this maintenance. Read the FAQs and stickies at the top of all the forum for all sorts of information on this car.
