This pisses me off.

1. You are dumb.
2. 150 yds is 1.5 football fields away. You think that'll happen in city traffic?
3. I guarantee that I can "bait" you into hitting the back of my Land Rover and you'll be crying.
4. Why propagate evil?
5. I can be spraying my lawn with fertilizer and "accidentally" mist your car with sh!t... not illegal, but is it courteous?
6. Weren't you the one crying about being nailed by the letter of the law by a ticket on Halloween... now you're advocating being a d!ck because it's "not against the law?" You can't have it both ways.
7. BTW, it is against the law to drive "recklessly" even if you're above 45mph.
8. Did I mention you are dumb?
9. Typical "not my fault" mentality... even when it is.
10. Did you know there is an insurance scam where people in beaters slam on their brakes at random times, baiting people into hitting them and collecting the money? Say you're at a stoplight, it turns green and the car in front guns it. You follow and they slam on their brakes 2 seconds later... you're going into their taillights...

Unless you wait until they're 150 yards away before you start moving....
I thought not.

thetz99,

Wow, from my high horse I can see that you must have a pretty big chip on your shoulder to lash out at WayneTek and now me in such an aggressive manner. I am not sure what I said that would have elicited this response. Are you a tailgater too? Did someone handle your aggressive nature in a similar fashion? I would think at your age, 46, you would have outgrown such public displays of aggression. By the way, I

Rsmith, does wayne owe you money or something?

Where do you read "gradually" into wayne's text anyway?

Don't rationalize what wayne did as being ok. You weren't there but if you read what he actually did it is far from ok. Giving sermons on the evils of tailgating to enlighten those around you must really float your boat. You go so far as to give an insight into what is going on in a "tailgaters" mind. It seems you don't consider yourself a tailgater, but you know what lurks in such a mind? Does anyone know as much as you?

I like the logic you use

tailgaters are aggessive
thetz99 is aggressive
thetz99 = tailgater

tsk tsk tsk do you know what a high horse is?

You better get a grip at what a real LASHING actually is or you will be very surprised....

stop worrying.
I agree 100%. He's not going to go to the trouble; he just wanted to worry you. While I don't agree with your slowing down and risking an accident yourself with this jackass (no one should slow down or brake when someone is tailgating; its against the law), I think you'll be safe and you are worrying over nothing

1. Vanity plates are for grannies and Corvette owners.

2. In Calif you can register your vehicle to a PO Box.

3. It is a violation of Calif state law for a DMV employee to give the name and address of a registered owner to anyone other than a law enforcement officer or insurance co. employee.

4. Don't antagonize idiots on the freeway - you can get shot or worse.

5. Legally, rearend collisions are NOT always the fault of the driver in rear. That goes for all 50 states.

thetz99,

I see you are jumping to conclusions again. No, I do not know WayneTek, but I am beginning to get a very good picture of you.

I wrote: "Unless WayneTek was in the far left lane or slammed on his brakes, he did nothing wrong." He may or may not have slammed on his brakes, we (you and I) do not know.

I also wrote: "WayneTek 'gradually' slowing down to prompt the tailgating jerk to pass him is not dangerous or aberant behavior." He may or may not have slowed down gradually, we (you and I) do not know.

I am not making any assumptions. You, on the other hand, in your rush to judgment are assuming that he slammed on the brakes.

I am not rationalizing what WayneTek did was OK, I do not know what he did... do you?

Do you have a magical ability to read my mind (and that of WayneTek). Are you also clairvoyant?

Your original comment started out aggressive "You were both asses... You started it by being slow... in a S2K no less."

So, your conjecture is that driving the speed limit is an open invitation to be tailgated, especially if you are driving an S2k.

Since WayneTek was going 70 mph and you consider it too slow, what would be fast enough? 90 mph? 100 mph?

Yes, I know what a high horse is:

high horse:
Informal noun:
A mood or attitude of stubborn arrogance or contempt:
"Get down off your high horse and apologize
Noun:
An attitude of arrogant superiority:
"get off your high horse and admit you are wrong"

I also know what a "real lashing" is:

lashing:
v. tr.
To strike with or as if with a whip
To strike against with force or violence
To beat or swing rapidly
To make a scathing oral or written attack against.
To drive or goad; sting
v. intr.
To move swiftly or violently; thrash
To aim a sudden blow; strike
To beat; flail
To make a scathing verbal or written attack

I am quite sure you intend "to make a scathing oral or written attack against" myself.

I am so horrified that you might do this; the light grows dark... my breathing is labored...

Will you use adjectives and verbs? Will you lace my lashing with profanities?

At the very least everyone will be entertained.

If you don't want someone to tailgate you either drive faster or move right.
