Default Can the S2000 handle 20k miles per year?

In a few months, it will be time for me to turn in my current ride (Lexus SC430). I'm considering an 04 (or 05 if they are out in November) S2000 as my next purchase. However, I put on about 20k miles each year. Of course I would do all scheduled maintenance according to the owners manual and plan on no mods nor racing.

Do you S2K owners believe that it can handle 20k miles each year without major RELIABILITY issues? Your responses are much appreciated! Thanks!

im going on 26 months of ownership, stored 8 months out of that. Got the car with 142 miles on it, now has 45,500 on it. So 45K in 18 months. The only problem I have had is my differential, but I do autox, and have been to the drag strip once.

Other than that, the car is running great, and the dyno I did at about 40K seemed to show I have a factory freak, since my HP was 2nd highest, even over cars with more mods than mine!

It will handle 100K miles per year if you don't abuse or neglect it. It's a Honda afterall, and should be very reliable.

Compared to you SC430, the luxury will be way down but the fun-to-drive and sporty nature will be WAY up.

Good luck!

I bought my S used. It purchased it in March '04. It was new May '03 and had 21K on it when I drove it off the lot. So that is over 20K in less than a year. Its been really nice to me and its a fun ride. Its no 4 door booster though.

I wonder if the previous owner was on here? I know he traded the S in for an infiniti because the dude's wife was having a baby.

Well........I bought mine used about a year and a month ago with 32,000 miles on it and now it has 62,000 miles on it. No major repairs or problems or anything at all. I think I would of had problems with my diff if I never would of put the LE607 in my baby. Cause it was getting loud but the LE stuff did the trick. Now I don't hear it. So no worries and just drive on!

Also been to the Dragon twice, Roebling Road(track event), and plenty of spirited driving through North Georgia Mountains and such.

My baby did 20k miles her first year. She's at 37k now a week short of her second birthday. Not a single issue. Fluid and tire changes the only maintenance required. And tender, loving polishing.

My '02 S2000 currently has 63k miles and counting. I have had to replace a few minor items - clutch, master/slave cylinders - but that's it. Nothing else has broken so far. Other than that, it's just routine maintenance like tires, fluid changes, etc.

My only gripe with the car is its infamous propensity to grind when upshifiting into 2nd gear when cold. But that's not really a reliability issue...

The only other thing that's worth noting is that the car does require more frequent tranny and differential oil changes than most others, and it goes through tires fairly quickly as well. Of course that's pretty much expected for this type of car.
