I had an idea a while back that would work depending on how drastic a correction the "yellow box" allowed for. You could leave the stock gearing, but install the yellow box and set it for a 60.9% correction factor. This would allow us americans to switch over to KPH, which would now give a correct MPH reading. By doing this you would cut mileage on your car by 60.9% (at 50,000 miles you would be reading 31,075! I'm pretty sure Uncle Sam would frown upon this idea though.

Yea i was just wondering if it was as easy as pulling a fuse.

I am a firm believer in the " Anything is possible" saying.

But sounds like its not very likely on a S2000

It's pretty damn difficult to do if you aren't an electrical engineer or the like. The older style odometers that were just a set of gears are EXTREMELY easy to alter. I was actually very dissapointed when I realized how easy it was. By a fed investigation, 1 in 4 cars have odometer fraud. This would scare the $h*t out of me except most of these fraud odo's are done to much older cars [99k is a lot more appealing than 109k] with simpler guage clusters.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the easiest way yet. Put the back wheels on jack stands, pop it in reverse and jam a stick between the seat and gas a la Ferris Bueller.

There may be a simpler way- but I actually like where I'm going with mine....

What physically effects the VSS? I.e. Is it like gear with a magnet on it and an electronic pickup, or what?

Lengthen the wire on the vss, and hook it up to something that emulates whatever drives the signal on the car.

Obviously there's a simpler way to do this, but i'm obviously not an electrical engineer.

well there is a difference between just slowing down the odometer and setting back/changing the count.

The VSS gets it's reading off the counter shaft in the transmission. It then sends an electrical signal to the ECU and then to the dash/odo.

yellow box only goes to 28% i believe....and if you could get it to 50%, then you could just double the speed in your head..at 5mph, your doing 10, at 30 you are doing 60....and you only rack up 1/2 the miles you drive.

but even the modifry yellow jacket goes to 25%.....now if someone knew how to wire two of them together and would PM me with that info, that would be awesome

it probably is doable to hide a few miles on the car, but i don't think it is worth the hassle....
