can "maintenance required" light be turned out without dealer?
Does the Helm manual tell how to turn off the "maintenance required" light?
Since it looks like I may not be going to the dealer any more for regular maintenance, it occurs to me it would be nice to turn that idiot light off when it comes on at the 7500 mile intervals.

thanks all - did not know this was a FAQ (don't remember seeing this last time I was there, a long time ago).
I thought about looking in the owners manual but didn't think they would tell you how to do it, so I never looked.

My 2001 owner's manual is correct.
"To reset the maintenance required indicator, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then press and hold the trip meter reset button while you turn the ignition switch ON. Continue holding the button until the indicator resets (the indicator light goes out)."

We had the light cut on one time, and I tried the procedure from the manual, as stated herein, repeatedly to no avail, and had to have the dealer turn it off...don't recall why though.
