I've bought 3 Hondas from Honda Cars of Mesa in AZ and the drive back to the Bay Area in CA is worth it. We got a great deal on our Prelude and CRV, and our S2K should be in in a couple of weeks at MSRP (with a discount on the options because we're loyal customers!)
So in short give them a call (don't have the #, but here's the web page - http://www.hondacarsofmesa.com
Talk to Frank Belhassen - hes been amazing

If you have AAA, get on their website and request a quote! I did this and a fleet sales manager of a nearby dealership called me up and offered me a choice between 2 colors at MSRP no forced options. They were due for delivery within 2 to 3 weeks. The 2 colors were my 1st and second choice. How much better can it get?!!?!? AAA, baby.

Me and two of my friends got S2Ks at Norm Reeves in the Cerritos Auto Square for MSRP ($32,740). Mine had $3,500 of "pending" options (CD changer, alarm, chrome badge kit, cargo net, car cover, and the titanium shift knob, but I didn't get them.

Try Dealers in Sacramento...
I got mine at Mel Rapton for MSRP...
My friend has one on order at Elk Grove Honda for MSRP...
Carmichael Honda is usually sitting on theres for awhile and maybe able to talk them down.
Crown Motors in Redding also sells at MSRP but is quite a drive... but worth it if you can save money!

It really depends on the dealer.
There are many dealers that simply install all those dealer options so you have no choice. Of course, those are the dealers that you want to avoid like the plague!!
Some won't even sell you the S2K unless you purchase some of the dealer options with it, which is buncha crap!
You should get exactly what you want, at MSRP, with YOUR choice of options if any. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Good luck in your quest my friend, I'm sure you will find the perfect deal that you're looking for!!

The route that I took was somewhat complicated though would be easy to replicate. For a new car I was going to have to wait wait until '02 in case there is a "Glass Rear Window."To have an '01 for the summer I needed an excuse. This would be finding a good deal on a used one. I then located one on ebay with 1200 miles. By emailing the seller and conducting business that way instead of over ebay he didn't need to pay them the selling fee of ~300. That essentially increased my bid by the same. The car was about 3months old and flawless. I then had to fly from San Diego to Spokane Washington, do the deal and then drive home. What a way to see Idaho, Utah, and Nevada! It ended up that I had a car in san diego with 2600miles for $30500 + cost of feeding and sleeping for 2 days. Not too bad if you ask me. Below is the short version.
1) Black on Black s2000..............$30500
2) 58 gallons of gas....................$120
3) 10 Starbuck's Frappachinos....$18
4) Travelling through Montana and finding that 5th gear redlines at 142mph .........................Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
