California MSRP - HELP!

Thanks for all the replies ... this forum has definitely had a dramatic impact on this pending S2K search. I'm gonna stick with my guns and make sure I'm packing plenty of heat when I step into a showroom. I don't care if it's George "Read my lips" Bush who is trying to sell me an S2K for 5K over the MSRP. I want it for MSRP damn it! Hopefully soon I'll be one of you guys, it IS my dream car.

I got mine from Mike Miller in Culver City also. I paid $200 or $300 over MSRP. It took three days to do it, but it was worth it. I just told them that I didn't need the car, I wanted the car and this is what I wanted to pay. I must give credit to my wife because she is great at getting a good price for cars. If you are really intrested Mike Miller is right by my house and I would be more than happy to go over with you to intrduce you to the person that helped me (PM me it you want). The number one thing to remember about buying a car like this is to walk if they don't give you the price you want. Me and my wife left twice and they called us at work, finally they gave us the price we wanted.
Another good dealer is Thousand Oaks Honda. Call over there and see if they will give you a good deal.

Stop all the hunting around and go to Priceline.com. They do all the work and I got mine at flat MSRP in the San Diego Area. You pay them 50 bucks if they find it in your color at your price in the area you specify. If not you pay nothing. Ray Baldwin is their
West Coast guy and several on this board in addition to me found him to be straight and reliable.

I just picked up my SpaYellow S2K two weeks ago for MSRP, NO FORCED OPTIONS!!!
I got mine from Gardena Honda here in SoCal. They advertised it in LA Times Sunday classified for MSRP and I jumped on it.
Gardena Honda PH#: (800)883-3330
Sales person who sold me the car: Jason Lattier
Last time I checked, they had a few Silver, one black, but not sure if they were offering any of them for MSRP...
If they give you some crap about markup from MSRP, tell them that Norm Reeves Honda, Nelson Honda, and the others listed above are selling it at MSRP.
I think you have a better chance at negotiating MSRP if you're actually there at the dealer instead of over the phone. Otherwise they may not take you seriously...
Hope this helps... play hardball and don't give up!!!

Psicho,
I was the one who referred Metro. The saleman at first wanted to charge a premium over MSRP. I told him that I'm aware others have paid up to 40+ for the car, but that I won't. Further more, since it was Easter and Tax weekend, I told him that I know it's a good day for making deals. I started to offer $31000. He refused to negotiate, I walked. The floor manager came after me trying to save the deal. They had six in stock (2 Red/black, 2 Yellow, 1 Silver/Black, 1 black/black). I believe I got a good price because the timing was on my side. I know that the weather is on their side now, so it's less likely for you to get below MSRP. But if you do your homework, you should be able to get it at sticker. Contact as many dealer as possible. If you can find a dealer that's more motivated than you are, then you will have the upper hand in the negotiation. If you are frustrated and believe that you need to pay over MSRP, be ready with the $$$.
Sorry for the long post, good luck with your hunt.
