Default CAI for far less than AEM!

I recently purchased this Maxx Speed CAI on Ebay. I paid $104 plus shipping.

It fits perfect and comes with everything down to the 2 sided bolt grommet to secure the piping to the cross member under the radiator.

YES THERE ARE CHEAP $40 versions that are very sloppy. The difference from the AEM to the cheap $40 versions is that the AEM piping on the inside is very smooth aiding in great air flow and the cheap $40 versions dont fit right and the inside of the piping is rough restricting air flow.

This Maxx Speed is not a cheap $40 version. It is exaclty like the AEM without the carb sticker. Just as smooth on the inside as a friend of mine is running the v2 and I viewed them side by side. And the maxx speed bottom piping mounts up in a different spot that the v2 but the hole is there on the chassis. The top bracket is not used.

I just wanted to post this as many members will be interested.

Heres the link to the auction.

Heres some pics of the unit put together.

Very deep and loud, when it hits VTEC the sound is AWESOME! SCREAMING!

It also has lips on the ends of the piping for added security that the connecting tubes stay on.

The cheaps ones are smooth.

That is a heat shield doubling as a umbrella which I extended for added security.

So I am correct in assuming that the shield is to prevent hydrolock from dripping? That would actually indicate true R&D to some extent...shocking for $100

Its a great value!

I have heard many horror stories of CAI bought on Ebay that didnt fit at all.

It prevents water from getting into the filter when it pours and comes down the drain hole. Not really "true" R&D on their part though, many make those heatsheilds/umbrellas for CAIs now.
