Default buying used 04 s2k

A local dealer has used 04 s2k with about 4500 miles on it for sale for $26k.
I looked at the vehicle and I can tell the car has been slightly modified before. Basic stuff like the "snorkle" intake coming from the stock air box(I can tell from the square hole on the plastic cover behind the bumper.
Scrapes from the lip of the bumper (maybe it was lowered?), and missing "H" emblem in the back.

I test drove the car and it seem to run fine, Its hard for me to tell since I never driven a similar 04 s2k before.

any advice if I was to purchase this? The price is slightly low fro my area, thats why Im a little worried about the history of the car.

I asked for a compression test and the dealer is willing to do it for me for $50.

anything else I should look at? Thanks

You're good now

What area are you in? The price sounds about right for the area I live in. What do you mean the Honda emblem is missing: are there two holes where it used to be or is it completely smooth?

You don't have to be lowered to scrape the bottom of the bumper - especially if it has the '04 front lip. I would be excited about the intake

Maybe you can run up to the dealership and snap some pictures for us.

there two holes in the back, the car doesnt have the fter market "snorkle" intake anymore. Just the hole where it went through.
It doesnt have the 04 front lip, just where the lip would go( thats where the scrapes are).

As poindexter said, the front end is REALLY easy to scrape. As long as it is not deformed from contact, I would not worry. I live in fear of even the smallest curbs and I am at stock height with no added spoiler.

26K sounds good if the car is in good shape... maybe knock it down to 25.5. Use the intake mod and missing eblem as justification.

I bought a used 04 with 2500 miles for 25K but I think I got a steal on that price.

I also saw an 03 with 12,000 miles go for 20K. I thought that was a real good deal too.

I would start negotiating at $24,800 but be ready to go up. Depending on how good you are with negotiations you could get a great deal. The dealer obviously isn't that smart or he would have spent the $6 on a new Honda badge and either pulled the black cover where the snorkel hole is or bought a new one.

I work for a dealership where we let our Used Car Managers take charge of the reconditioning and most of them are too cheap to do things right. It amazes me that they could spend all of $60 and someone would never be suspicious and would think the car was worth more.

Take advantage of their laziness
