Default buying a oem hardtop and got a ?

okay guys i just recently got my 04 GPW S2K, and i'm about to pick up a oem hardtop with all hardware. the owner and i are going to do the install and i'm curious on the stock catchers? for he wants my stock catchers for his hardtop ones. can you guys explain what he means or got pics? thanks alot

I think when you see his hardware you'll both agree that the front latches are the same. But you will need his rear side catchers witch he will no longer need and you must have to install the HT.

He wants the front catcher's , the hard top and soft top catcher are different for the front.

I think you guys are using the incorrect terminology. The "catchers" are the metal pieces on the sides that attach to the car and are for hardtop equipped S2000s only. The "strikers" are the ones that you would want. The hardtop strikers are a little more beefy than the soft top ones. The strikers are the part that you latch/unlatch when you're putting the top down in the front. If you continue using your soft top strikers while you have the hardtop on, you may get some movement/squeaking/wind noise/leakage.

actually you're going to need his catchers as well as his strikers.

I believe in 04 they changed the normal soft top strikers to the same ones that come with the hard top, so there is no need to change them.

I had my new OEM HT installed on the 11th of Feb 2009. I have the two new strikers in an unopened box. The strikers are the same for the softtop and the ht on 04 and up models.
