Default buying a lowered s2k with 19in rims <- stay away?

hey guys,

Im planning to buy a s2k in the next couple of weeks. I have been looking at potentials but i have not found one that i like. Last week i looked at an 01 model with about 30000 miles black with red leather. It looks pretty good and the price seems decent. EXCEPT two things, it has been lowered with king springs and has 19inch rims.

I am worried that since the car has been lowered and has 19inch rims, the car has been damaged, like the axels etc? Is it a safer option to wait and get one that is stock? Also what are King springs? Do they cut the springs or put new ones in there?

Thanks

I would be more concerned with the caliber of the individual driving that thing. Just stereotyping here, but better safe than sorry - the way I see it is the dude skimped out on suspension and both the drop and wheels were done just for looks. With that being said, I would stay away from a car owned by someone only interested in looks... and would skimp out on quality stuff to get to it.

Hey thanks for your input. Yes that was also my concern. I have an option to buy a freinds car, which is a 2000 model but it has done 82,000 miles for about $3000 cheaper.
The thing i know my freinds car is well maintained and service regularly, it isnt lowered or big rims (it has 18inch rims). He doesnt drive it crazy either.

When im buying an s2k should i go for one that has low miles and newer year but might not have been taken care of properly or one that has done a lot of miles and well maintained?

just do what i did and wait it out and keep on checking with dealerships or autotrader.com. I waited for about like a year and i finally got one that fit my category exactly.

Just be patient and you'll get what you want.

In the other hand, I look normal and my car is fairly stock with 17" on stock height but I drive mine like I stole it everyday.
So you figure...

So what do you guys think, could i get some more input from everyone?

Better to buy a high mileage (82,000 miles, 2000 model) s2k thats been taken care of and I know has been maintained well OR a s2k (31,000 miles, 2001 model) but has been lowered 2 inches all around and has 19inch rims and the service history might not be that good????

Neither?

If you're not going to be comfortable in either car, then don't buy them. I'd probably pass and wait for a better deal. I'm sure you could find a well maintained one with less miles for roughly the same price.

If I absolutely had to choose, it would be the older well maintained car. No big difference between an 00 and 01 MY, and I would rather have 82000 maintained miles than 32000 hard ones.

are any of these cars well priced??
if not wait for the next one.

i would go for the lowered car:
-inspect the wheel wells for damage, the plastic liners & snap fastners may need to be replaced
-ask if the oem springs are still around and re install them or get coil overs
-get a dyno run and or compression test
-ebay the existing junk wheels, look at oem or new, rota is medium performance:
