Default Buying a 2000 s2000

Hey guys! I'm going to be a new (to me) S2000 owner, I found an extremely clean s2k with 49k miles on it. I'm just wondering if there is any major maintenance coming up I should know about? Clutch, timing chain, etc... I have read over some other posts, but haven't really found anything definitive.

I agree.

If you're worried, get a pre-purchase inspection. Best $300-400 you'll spend for peace of mind

Inspection is a great idea, but it should be around $100 by a good tuner shop.

Cool, thanks guys. I'm not really worried. I'm just gonna have the fluids changed and call it good. I have a friend who's a mechanic. I'll have him look at it for me

If possible, test drive it or let the owner drive it, to make sure the clutch isn't slipping. I have 102k on mine and its running strong. If it is skipping, use it as leverage.

Oil banjo bolts might be an issue depending on how you drive the car.

Check if you can, if it has had the valve clearance done, & do them if you can't find when they were done.

The same with the fuel filter.

I was lucky enough to find a 2001 a couple of years ago with only 27,500 Kilometers on it.
As with you, I changed all fluids, the fuel filter, pollen filter, & did the valve clearances.
It is now coming up on 40,000Km, & has been a total joy.

Hope you're as lucky, & have as much fun
