Buy new S2k in USA and bring to Canada?
With the S2k being close to 50k CDN MSRP and about 32500 USD - why not buy an S2k in the USA (if you are Canadian) ... say in Buffalo if you live in Toronto, and bring it back here?
Even if you had to pay 15% tax, you would still be a few thousand ahead.
Anyone?

this may be the first i've heard of the "heading south" international car trade. last time i checked into it, the way to go was to trvel north to ge a good deal. in fact, infiniti made a HUGE deal of this with their dealer networks when the g35 came out. lots of communications about warranties and sales regions etc...

i did the same thing.....saved about $10K-12K.
it all depends on the exchange rate at the time.
btw, the step-up cost is 20.1%....not 15%.
there's a 5.1% (or is it 6.1%.....can't remember now) duty on new cars.
i bought it when the CAN dollar was 79 cents (december/03).
it'll cost you a few bucks more these days now as the dollar is hovering around 75 cents.
still worth doing, IMO.
buy your car from ganley honda.....it won't cost you $32,500.

Hi there....
I am doing exactly this right now (just bought a Red '02 from a dealer in NY, I live in Ottawa). If you have any questions about the long-winded process involved, let me know!

So whats the process here... you show up with the car at the boarder - pay the 20% tax (on the US conversion of what you paid) and you are good to go?
Is it possible to get a friendly dealer who will give you a different invoice for tax purposes?
