brought my S to the dealer and.....
I brought my S in to get looked at for the thump noise when its put into first and I took a ride with the service manager and he said its totaly normal and if anything goes wrong they will fix it for free. He also told me to shift without using the clutch. I am wondering does anyone else here shift without the clutch and what kind of problems can be caused by that??

Shifting without a clutch is a very common method of motorcycling. I use the clutch on the bike for 0 to start and all my downshifts. Almost all upshift are clutchless. I gentle twist of off-throtle so the load is reduced, a gentle pull up on the pedal shifter, the gear slides right in like the proverbial hot knife through butter.
Our car can be shifted up and down once moving without the clutch. It is a gentle, slow, patient way of changing gears. Up shifts are a gentle off-throttle, pull the gear shift out of gear, then hold with a little bit of pressure on the knob pushing into or actually holding at the gate of the next gear. When the tranny has slowed to the right revs it will just about pull the lever into the gate. This is a very slow method of changing gears because you need to let the tranny slow down.
Upshifts are about the same but once you have gone off-throttle and pulled the shift knob out of gear and are holding it at the gate of the next gear, you have to gently increase the revs until the tranny comes up to the right speed and then the lever will pop in.
I do not practice this as a norm! I do do this from time to time because I often take motorcycle things from one vehicle to another.
