Brand of oil recommended?
Guys,
What brand of oil (recommended for '07) and weight? How many quarts?
I guessing its Mobil Synthetic is the popular choice.
Btw, what should be the rpm when the car is idle?
Thanks in advance,
Tony

I personally like Amzoil (now Amsoil) the most. Then Mobil 1 for synthetic. I used to use Honda dino oil before switching over.
I just used the Honda recommended viscosity -- think it's 5W40 (should check with the Honda manual what it is ... can't remember)? In extreme cold weather, you probably want to use something thinner though.

1) Brand doesn't matter as much these days even for conventional oils. The refining process has advanced greatly over the years they are almost as good as hydrocraked or synthetic oils.
2) Look at the oil cap or manual 10W-30 or 5W-40. (5W-30 and 10W-30 is not the same when the oil breaks down.)
3) See capacities in the manual ~5qts for filter/oil change.
Amsoil is what I use for the motor and tranny because I put a lot of miles on my car and is just more economical for longer OCI. Oil questions pop up so often and many will argue what's best. These days most conventional oils are pretty good, but if you want an oil that can last get a true 100% syn oil.

Thanks for your reply.
I saw the cap and listed 10w30. Can I use 5w30 Mobil 1 SuperSyn or Syn ( I am in socal if it matters)?
I just bought a used '07 with 8700 miles unfortunately there was no maintenance manual.
I just checked the oil level and see it at a tad above half (three full "XXX" mark). I am still good for another week?
Also, for the drain plug, do I have to use a crush washer?
Thanks, a lot.

No harm done using 5w30. If thats what you have on hand ,use it up then switch to 10w30 since this is what Honda recommends. I have just a little more confidence in the approved weight over other weights.
