Brake Pads which are the best?
My car has reached the ripe old age of 5 and finally it is time to fit some new break pads! Actually I'm amazed my pads have lasted this long, so far 55,000Kms without needing replacement.
Anyway I've just re-fitted my Vortech SC, and think this is probably the ideal time to replace them.
Obviously the type of pad best suited is going to be related to the type of driving I will be doing, so my prediction is:
- mostly road work (European hard driving)
- plus a bit of track stuff (perhaps three or four weekends per year)
I've been very happy so far with the stock pads, but would be interested in other peoples experiences / recommendations.
Thanks
Kevin

I run OEM for daily driving and more aggressive pads for track (currently Hawk HP+). It only takes like 15~20min to swap them out so it's worth it. Using stock pads for track will cook them and using track pads for street gets annoying (squeals). There really isn't a good compromise pad, imo.

Thanks Guys, I did notice that my stock brakes started to fade after three or four laps on Zandvoort race track, that's why I was hoping they was an intermediate pad I could use that would fall somewhere between road and track use.
So far it seems I'll have to buy two sets and swap them.

Porterfield R4S worked for me. I never had them any fade issues at the track, and they work just as good as OEM on the street. Some aggressive track drivers had some crumbling of the pad material, but I never did.
The Cobalt GT Sports are also a good compromise track/street pad. That's what I'm going to next.

Though this wasn't on an S2000, I really liked running Hawk HP+ pads on my Neon. They did tend to get a bit loud, but if you did a couple hard stops to rebed them, the noise went away. They are quite dusty however...

Stock for the street works great.
For the track I put in Porterfield R4 pads, great stopping power and no fade.
Motul fluid all the time.
The only question I have is what you get if you buy OEM pads these days. I heard Honda changed the pads for 04 and they dust more now. When it comes time to get new street pads I want exactly what came on my 03.

has anyone tried Axxis Ultimates on an S, my brother has them on his 330i and they are a good compromise between street and track...no squeaks on street, no fade on the track, great stopping power...etc.
they do dust a bit though...would like some input on how they work on the S.
thanks
