Do Hawk HP+ squeal? My dad used to have a set on his camaro and they squealed and chirpped, usually at slow braking.

Do not buy aftermarket pads just to have "aftermarket." Since the OP hasn't suggested how he/she drives or what he/she is looking for performance-wise, I find it funny that you all are suggesting anything other than OEM.
Also, considering the nature of the very vague question and knowing that tires wear out faster than brakes, I'm going to assume that the car has at a minimum a replacement set of tires. I'm going to assume that they are of lesser gripping power than OEM spec'd tires(something crappy like ES100's or the like). Putting an aggressive pad on a crappy tire is not smart.
If the clamping power of the brakes exceeds the gripping power of the tire, the car helps you by engaging ABS. While effective, not exactly the coolest thing to witness when traffic comes to a halt.
Stick with the non-sexy suggestion of OEM. Hardtopguy.com is one source. Also, your car is pretty old now. You should be about to change your brake fluid for at least the second time, regardless of mileage.
