Default Brake Pad Usage

I keep a constant eye on my pads and rotors (check once a week when I wash the car). What kind of mileage are you guys getting out of stock pads? I'm using them under standard driving conditions and the occasional "spirited" drive through the country highways.

It really depends on how hard you drive, the nature of the road, and how hot they get. Are you going by the amount of visible pad surface left of the outside pad? If so, from my experience, the inside pads wear a little more than the outer. So if the outer pads are looking thin, you might want to check the inner pads with calipers off. Typical mileage will vary. I have gotten 10K out of the front pads with plenty of material left on the rears. I have since switched to a different brand of street pad (Poterfield R4S). Your stock front rotors should last 2-3 sets of oem pads if not more. The rear rotors will last a lot longer with oem pads.

IMHO checking your brake pads weekly borders on mental illness.

tire pressure, YES
oil level, YES
remaining tire tread, MAYBE
