This thread sort of reminds me of my experience getting my S2000. To make a long story short, I went to a dealer, put down a $500 deposit and then to show my good faith I gave them a $5000 down payment check and told them to not cash it until the car came in. After being jerked around for about 6 weeks, I finally went back and asked for my deposit and check back. The sales manager refused both, and made a scene in front of other customers. As much as I wanted to get mad and yell back, I kept my calm and resolution. He told me my $500 was non-refundable, and that he hadn't decided if he would let me have my $5000 check back. I went straight to the bank, put a stop payment on the check, and tried another dealer.
I got the Suzuka Blue I wanted, right off the truck, with only 8 miles on it - the NEXT day!! And I got it for about $1500 cheaper too!
The next day, I called and talked to the general manager/owner of the first dealer and explained what had happened. He said he would check and call me back. 10 minutes later, the a-hole sales manager called me and told me to come and pick up BOTH my checks!
And I will never forget one other thing, I was a brand new newbie, both to this site and the S, and many people helped me. But I will never forget the one who didn't, one who is thought of as an "expert" here. He told me how dumb I had been, and when I tried to ask him to explain and help me, he ignored me...no need to call any names here.
Otherwise, it has been a great 10 months with my S and here on this great forum!
