That's a nice pick up.
Wish I had the money for a s and a tsx.
Doesn't really matter.
I work from home and only drive when I want to so the s doesn't get much miles that arnt fun related. =]
When we have kids, I may have to pick up a beater for emergencies. =\

Nice! I have an 04 TSX with 110,000 miles on it and still going nice and strong. Used as my DD. Crazy thing is after all these years(going on 7) I still love it! I'll probably drive it for another year or two then take over my wife's 2010 RDX and let her get something else.

Nice car. Always liked the TSX.
However, a beater car is a better option! $35,000 for a daily driver that is just going to rack up a ton of miles is a poor choice IMHO. I see a lot of nice cars in my area, less than 5 years old with 100,000+ mileage! You're quickly destroying the resale on an already depreciating asset by daily driving a brand new car. But hey, not everyone has extra cash to spend these days! I've put 80,000 combined miles on my last 2 beater cars in 7 years. The first car (92 Accord) I paid $1,500 for and drove it 50,000 miles (sold it for $1,300) with no real issues. My current 93 civic has given me 30,000 reliable miles (@40+ MPG) and I bought that one for $800. Not only the savings but a beater car only needs liability insurance and when you take it to a bar/downtown or other location where a nice car will likely get damaged it sure is a lot less to worry about. With the savings you can buy a 4x4 pickup for tailgating, snow and off roading!

That is what company cars are for! But I understand your point. A lot of jobs require you to use your own transportation and your image is important. Personally if I were a client of a salesman and he was driving a Lexus or Mercedes I'd be inclined to conclude that he is good at what he does (rip off clients) If he were driving a 5-10 year old Accord he must just be a family man trying to make ends meet like the rest of us.

Well for a 2-3 hour (hellish commute) I agree, I nicer car would make that more bearable. My commute is 7 minutes...a shitbox fills the bill for the days the weather is not suitable for motorcycle or S2000.

However, after driving the TSX all week, I let my wife drive it this morning and I drove the S; man is that still a fun car to drive!

Jlude, i see where you're coming from, even if you are catching a bit of flak from the OP. Personally, my DD is a 2005 ford escape - not quite the shitbox you're using, but certainly not a 2011 TSX either. I guess it kind of comes back to what we define DD as - typically, it's thought of more as a beater than a brand new car. But the point remains the same, keeping the miles and the hard weather away from the S, regardless of how you do it. Since the OP has the money for a TSX to serve that purpose, more power to him IMO.
