I've never been a big fan of louder 4 cyc exhaust, but if I could make my S2000 sound anything like my Cobra I'd do it in a heartbeat...if I could have transplanted my Cobra's engine into my S2000

In my opinion, nothing sounds like the quad-cam Cobra. If there is anything I miss about my '98 Cobra, it is the sound coming out of those 3-inch tailpipes.
I've never heard a 4 cylinder exhaust set-up that I liked. You need big displacement for a nice, deep sound.

I am very confused by the information in this thread. I have a Borla on one of our other vehicles (1993 Ford Exploder XLT 5 Speed). I like the throaty sound it puts out, not too loud. Back in the 90's (correct me if I am wrong) Borla's policy was that if they could not get a ten percent performance increase over stock they would NOT bring a system to market.
In April of 2003 when we bought my S Borla did not list a Cat-back system for it at the time. Now, I see that they offer one. I e-mailed Borla and the response that I got back from them claimed a 5 - 7 % increase in HP and torque over the OEM system. That means 12 to 16.8 HP (although they make no claims as to whether that is at the crank (assumed) not the rear wheels (as other's such as CompTech claim 3 HP at the rear wheels). I have requested the documentation that shows as what RPM that they claim these increases to see if it matches well with my driving style. I have not gotten a response back from them.
Does anyone have a Borla on their AP1? If so, whould you suggest this system? I am curious if anyone researched it and as to why you made your decision based on anything other than Borlas reputation.
I am considering either the Borla (which I know) versus the Comp Tech which seems to be a good alternative choice based on not being too loud (like the Invidia).
I would appreciate any feed back (especially from anyone that has a Borla Cat-back on their S) I have enjoyed the one on my Exploder. Especially since I have one of only three five speed Exploder four door XLT's that I have ever seen. Every once in a while , I draw the attention of a fellow motorhead when they hear me shift. and they do a double take!

I've had the Borla for about 1-1/2 years. I would highly recommend it if you like the sound of the car stock but just wish it was a little louder. I mostly made the decision based on the fact that I got an amazing deal on the exhaust. But I did have confidence it it, after having one on a previous car.
